Hua Hin Train Station

Hua Hin Train Station by Shutterstock.com

Hua Hin Train Station is considered a landmark of Hua Hin locals. As for the souvenirs, the station signs indicating “Arrival at Hua Hin” are a must. You should stop by, take some photos, and admire the beauty of the railway station. Hua Hin Railway Station is a Class 1 railway station on the southern railway line, located between Hua Hin Sai Tai Station and Nongkae Station. It features a half-concrete, half-wooden architectural style influenced by Victorian architecture. It is painted cream color contrasting with red. The building itself has beautiful decorative patterns and closely spaced support columns. Nearby, there is a royal pavilion, Phlap Phla Phra Mongkut Kaloa, which was originally a lunar pavilion located in the Sanam Chan Palace in Nakhon Pathom Province. King Rama VI used it as a place for practicing military tactics and training the Boy Scouts of Thailand. After his reign, the State Railway of Thailand dismantled and preserved the pavilion. Later, during the time of Marshal Sarit Thanarat, the Director-General of the State Railway of Thailand, it was decided to reassemble and rebuild the pavilion at Hua Hin Railway Station to serve as a memorial and as a place to board and disembark trains for King Rama IX. Therefore, it was reconstructed by Thai craftsmen. Currently, it has become a popular tourist attraction, where visitors often come to admire the beauty of the station and the pavilion, take photos, and check-in.

Adjacent to Pranburi Beach, there is another nature park called “Thao Kosa Forest Park” or locally known as “Khao Kalok.” It is under the supervision of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, just like Pranburi Forest Park. This place serves as a relaxing and peaceful destination for tourists. The terrain features rocky hills by the sea, offering a pleasant and tranquil atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle. It’s perfect for sitting back and enjoying the sea breeze on a picnic mat, having a picnic with family, or even taking a refreshing dip in the sea. As for the origin of the name, the hill’s shape resembles a coconut shell, leading the locals to call it “Khao Kalok” (which translates to “Hill of the Coconut Shell”). Besides the beach area, there’s also a viewpoint on top of the hill. To reach it, one must climb the stone stairs with rope handrails for support. Caution should be exercised while ascending as some parts can be steep. At the top, the panoramic view is simply breathtaking, akin to a scene from a romantic movie.

It is a large cave with a historical significance, and its ceiling features a large hole that allows sunlight to shine through, creating a stunning and picturesque view. Inside the cave, you can find the Kuha Karuhas Pavilion, a magnificent and intricately designed pavilion built during the reign of King Rama V in Bangkok and later transported to this cave. The best time to witness the most beautiful illumination of sunlight in the cave is between 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
